The Vanuatu National Games begun in 1982 as the Inter District Games including six provinces: Torba, Penama, Malampa, Sanma, Shefa and Tafea and two municipals: Luganville and Port Vila. Penama have long dominated the gold medal position in the men’s and Port Vila in the women competition. The Games are managed by the Vanuatu National Olympic Committee (VASASNOC) in association with the Department of Youth & Sports and supported by National Federations Technical Officials.
Some provinces have taken the example of the National Games and replicated them in the organization of their own Provincial School Games. Volleyball is a popular sport in all the school games held annually during the July to August school holidays. VVF does support with equipment and technical officials.
